Mark Alban Lotz – Solo Flutes
A performance of Solo Flutes’ by Mark Alban Lotz electrifies with an unconventional style of performance and virtuosity in surprising music and improvisations. A trip to the very own universe of music of a visionary. A recital in contemporary music in composition and improvisation which often crossing borders. The performance is pure: without a laptop or loops but with a lot of advanced techniques and imagination. This spiced with a healthy dose of humor. Lotz is a jazz and avant-garde artist very confirmative of his voice, but who is embracing also the plain beauty of music. The audience experiences a world of rhythms and rituals, polyphonic chirping, mechanized and motoric skills and spherical underwater melodies. A unique experience.
Mark Alban Lotz is a very active personality in the European music scene, involved in new music, jazz, and many kinds of world music. He worked with a.o. Chris Potter, David Tronzo, Don Byron, Miguel Anga Diaz, Zuco 103, Han Bennink and soloists of the Conjunto Folklorico National De Cuba, the Nightingale of Tibet Namghyal Lhamo or the Indiaan Underground star Najma Akhtar. His interpretations of Afro Cuban folklore and recent collaborations in with Turkish avant garde artists and received very high acclaim by the International press.

Kleefstra/Bakker/Kleefstra – Dark drones and poetry
The trio Kleefstra|Bakker|Kleefstra (KBK) combines improvised dark-ambient with spoken word and consists of the experimental guitarists Romke Kleefstra and Anne-Chris Bakker and poet Jan Kleefstra. After their deut album ‘Wink’ in 2009 the trop played through Europe and Japan. They worked together with musicians like Peter Broderick, Nils Frahm, Greg Haines and Machinefabriek. KBK also made music to short experimental films of film- and video artists like Shinkan Tamaki from Japan and Sabine Bürger from Germany. In 2012 the album ‘Griis’ was published on Low Point form the UK. The Kleefstra brothers are also playing in bands like Piiptsjilling and The Alvaret Ensemble, while Anne-Chris Bakker is also publishing solo-albums. Expect dark, dreamy soundscapes that tend to burst. Or like magazine The Wire wrote about the trio: “Two guitarists construct an icy enclave out of frozen drones and amplifier crackle, a veritable Fortress Of Solitude whose isolation is further emphasized by the poet’s intimately close-miked tones and distant echoes, giving an acute impression of expanses and depths both internal and external.”
