Studio LOOS 20th Anniversary Celebration!

We're thrilled to share the milestone recently celebrated by Studio LOOS! In a momentous event marking its 20th anniversary, Studio LOOS received not only accolades from the esteemed Mayor of The Hague, Jan van Zanen, but also a prestigious royal recognition for its Director and Founder, Peter van Bergen.

Mayor van Zanen's presence emphasized the significance of Studio LOOS within the cultural landscape of The Hague and beyond. His recognition of Peter van Bergen's impact on the Dutch and international experimental music scene, through the bestowal of the title Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau, is a testament to the institution's enduring influence and dedication to artistic innovation.

The anniversary celebration was highlighted by performances showcasing the depth and diversity of Artistic Research. Notable artists including Gerard Bouwhuis, Baidar Al Basri, Johan van Kreij, Farzaneh Nouri, and Leslee Smucker, captivating the audience with their boundary-pushing compositions and performances.

A special performance by LOOS Quartet, featuring esteemed musicians Wilbert de Joode, Giacomo Camilletti, Ike van Bergen, Peter van Bergen, and guest Raphael Vanoli, further elevated the evening's atmosphere. Their rendition of compositions by Andrew Hill, Carla Bley, and Pete La Roca served as a fitting tribute to Studio LOOS' commitment to musical excellence.

In addition to the captivating performances, attendees were treated to heartfelt speeches from Stef de Niet, Head of the Board of LOOS, and Peter van Bergen. These reflections illuminated the institution's rich legacy and unwavering dedication to fostering artistic excellence and innovation.
