Last wonderwerp of the season farewells it with a program of live electronics and enchanting projections on Thursday June 27th at Studio Loos (Constant Rebequeplein 20B, Den Haag). Doors will open at 20.30h with a 3€ entrance, performances by:

Roy F. Guzman Rodriguez. Sound Artist/Composer from San Juan, Puerto Rico studying at the Institute of Sonology at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. Currently working on a live-electronic performance set using Max/Msp programming language. The instrument is based on feedback processes, live-processing of samples, misreading of FFT spectral data and oscillators.
Ji Youn Kang is a composer and sound artist based in The Hague, in this performance, Ji plays a solo live electronic set with Benjolin, MIDI devices and computer. Benjolin, the complex, analog sound generator, has neither a preset nor stability, yet creates chaotic and unexpected gesture constantly so that it invites intuitive ways to deal with the output signals. In this piece, its signal not only works as a sound material, but also works as a controller by being analyzed inside the computer system designed for the performance, and that gives different data to reconstruct the sound sources in order to create a musical gesture. The performer has a role to intuitively choose the moment to ‘cut and feed’ this endlessly-changing sound materials, and to reshape it. ‘Time-folding’ is the metaphor for such an action.
Ji has been composing Live Electronic pieces for both traditional and non-traditional instruments, exploring mostly the primitive, empowering rhythmical elements and the noisy sound sources that the Korean ritual music involves.

Melissa builds principally installations, machines and objects using resources such as light and its principles, analog mechanisms and environments; intending to put the audience in a situation in which he/she is active part of the work.
Her research into light, projection, visual phenomenon and perception brought her to create hybrids, reinvent optical machines and installations based on pre-cinema concepts, optical laws and improvised composition.
Working in this way allows her to make public or rural interventions as also experiments in every domestic place or nomad.
The link between art and science has leaded her to produce makeshift projections, thus creating an optical link between our concepts and perceptions of the world around us. The majority of these works are inspired on themes coming from Art history, the history of humanity, philosophic or scientific theories which she transforms through antithesis reinventing in this way, the new meaning of it.
