Untitled Event
January 20, 2020 –
We are extremely excited for this one!
Violinist Jellantsje de Vries and percussionist Christian Smith will present one of the most beautiful pieces of experimental music from the past decade, Canadian composer Linda Catlin Smith's 60 minute 'Dirt Road' at Studio LOOS as part of our annual residency in the space.
She says about her music: 'I called the work Dirt Road because I felt I was working with material that was plain, simple, unadorned. It also implies, for me, the sense of being a bit off the beaten path. I like the image of solitude that it invokes, and the sense that there is not a lot happening. And yet when you walk in the country on a lonely path, there is always so much to see and to think and to feel. ---- I like to compose music that invites these delicate, intimate qualities. I would say it is always in the background of my thinking.' (Source: Another Timbre Interview)
