REWIRE FESTIVAL with MACHINE FABRIEK & Mike Rijnierse/Jan Trützschler
November 5, 2011 –
\/\//\/\#1 is a sound performance with a light installation that will be transformed into an acoustic experience.
Mike Rijnierse frequently works with light, developing an extensive series of works under the title Licht en Kleur (Light and Colour).
In these works, the artist made a meticulous study of the perception of coloured surfaces that are illuminated by different colours. He gave concrete form to his discoveries relating to the interaction between light, pigment and the retina in installations, projections and light designs.
In 2008, working in collaboration with Willem Marijs, this resulted in the installation, Lumokinese, in wich the visitor acts as both a visual element and an observer.
Another side of Rijnierse's work is his collaboration on major events in public space. Rijnierse was one of the people behind the THX Landingsbaan (THX Runway) during the 2007 TodaysArt festival, and during the 2008 edition, he collaborated on the Station to Station project, together with Staalplaat Soundsystem and Erik Hobijn. This project used a variety of installations to cause The Hague Central Station to sound out, with the timetable of the trains and trams serving as the basis for the composition.
Jan Trützschler von Falkenstein works in the field of computer music, media art and creative coding since the late 1990s. He performs 'crispy' sound collages using novel and custom made interfaces, produces sonic installations and occasionally composes for ensembles and fixed media. Currently he focuses on designing audio apps for mobile devices which are release under TeaTracks .
In the past years Jan contributed to the open source audio software SuperCollider. His music has been performed across the world at festivals such as ICSM World Music Days, ICMC, Spark, MusicAcoustica, TodaysArt, Ars Electronica, BEAST.
