STUDIO LOOS / 2019.06.19 / 20.30
Contemporary Music Ensemble Synaesthesis presents:
COOL PEOPLE PLAYING STRANGE MUSIC
Cool People Strange Music is a play on words that questions what is considered ‘cool’ and ‘strange’ in contemporary music. The programme introduces listeners to everything ‘strange’ music has to offer: from lack of melody and dissonant harmonies to sonoristic experiments that may seem unfamiliar and unpleasant to the ear – an arsenal made ‘cool’ by the ensemble’s characteristic drive and impressive performance. Pieces composed by Yann Robin, Silvain Marty, Panayiotis Kokoras, Regis Campo and Ricardas Kabelis are united by great structure and the best of unconventional sound production techniques, taking the audience on a multi-layered auditory experience.
Program:
Régis Campo (France): Pop – Art (2002)
Panayiotis Kokoras (Greece/USA): Crama (2006)
Yann Robin (France): Ftera (2014)
Sylvain Marty (France): Lithuanian Rotation (2016)
Ričardas Kabelis (Lithuania): Cell (1992)
Performers:
Vytautas Oškinis (flute)
Artūras Kažimėkas (clarinet)
Diemantė Merkevičiūtė (violin)
Monika Kiknadzė (viola)

Contemporary Music Ensemble Synaesthesis bio:
Contemporary Music Ensemble Synaesthesis has a growing reputation within the contemporary music world. The team of young and ambitious musicians has taken up the mission of introducing works of experimental Lithuanian and foreign composers to the performance venues. The ensemble’s vision goes beyond sound – but into space, light, movement and narrative – anything that allows for professionally performed music to become a multidimensional creation, blurring lines between genres.
Tickets: 5 €
